Does anyone have recommendations for some good hikes with letterboxes in Idaho? I'm just starting to do some research, but would appreciate any advice from people that have hiked/boxed in the area. We prefer hikes in the 3-15 mile range.
Thanks!

The last time I letterboxed in Idaho was 2004 and the ones I found were not long hikes, but still might be worth finding. Near Boise, The Raptor by Der Mad Stamper is an old one from 2000. Any box by Cadenza will have a great stamp, but the ones I found near Stanley were also interesting places: Sunbeam Springs Letterbox is near a hot spring that flows into the river and is a great place to soak, and Land Of The Yankee Fork Series of 5 boxes is a scenic walk through the old west with ghost towns and cemeteries. Have fun!

Thanks for the great tips! You once again are helping our vacation planning
process. We always appreciate recommendations from boxers that are familiar
with an area.
We hope to meet you in person one day!

Thanks, just glad I could help. If you want to hear from people that live in the area you could try asking this question on the Rocky Mt. List. I'm not sure if A-Bear still participates, but she was a great source of information when my brother and I visited, and even put together a small mini-meet for us.
It would be nice to meet y'all, too, and next time I get up your way maybe we can.

Yes, I had already contacted A-Bear directly and she sent me some
suggestions. I'll also post on the Rocky Mtn list - forgot to do that!

I haven't been on this sight in forever, but just happened to stop by today--never expecting to hear myself mentioned (blushing). Thanks Silver Eagle. I appreciate the compliment.
I miss my hiking and letterboxing in Idaho. There are lots of amazing hikes out there and some beautiful scenery. I'm afraid I won't be tons of help though as it has been five years since I moved to the UK.
When I was letterboxing in Idaho, hardly anybody was doing it. Actually A-Bear and I were the only ones for about two years. So we tended to keep our boxes fairly simple to encourage people to give it a go. We had some lovely spots though, and I'm sure you can make more of a go of them. I'm not sure, obviously, on the status of my boxes. I have tried to update the status if I've received reports of them missing.

I was in Idaho last September and found some of A-Bears boxes. I created a
box, Temporary Transplants, and had my son plant in in the Pullman, WA area
(right across the border from Moscow). He went to check on it a few months
ago, but no one had stamped in. There are a few boxes in and around Moscow.
